Nutrition and healthy skin and hair |
In my profession, I get asked about specific skin and hair conditions. Everyone wants to have beautiful skin and healthy looking hair, and many will spend tremendous amounts of money to achieve it. I really believe half the battle involves what we eat and drink on a daily basis. If we put junk into our bodies, our bodies will produce junk . Therefore, no matter how pure or expensive the products are that you are using to correct the problem, it's a waste of money and effort. You need to start focusing on working from the inside out. Until you start to nourish the skin cells and hair follicles through the bloodstream, applying expensive creams and lotions will only mask the problem. It's like when a Doctor prescribes medication for high blood pressure to someone who is overweight, eats a bad diet, and lives a sedentary lifestyle. If that person doesn't change their lifestyle, they will be forced to depend on the medication to keep them alive. Now, if they changed their diet and incorporated a regular exercise routine into their daily life, the excess weight would "magically" come off, their blood pressure would return to a safe level, and they could use the money that they save on medication to buy a smaller wardrobe.

Simply put, you are what you eat. A well balanced diet will supply the proper nutrients to the skin and hair, resulting in a healthier appearance. You can actually observe this by looking at people. Those who aren't properly nourished, or are dehydrated, tend to have deeper lines at an earlier age due to a lack of elasticity in their skin. The skin has a dull look to it as well. Many times the face will have a dry look, and makeup appears as a mask because the skin is absorbing the makeup as a result of being "thirsty". Many will have dry, thinning hair due to a lack of proteins.

On the other hand, people who are well nourished and Hydrated tend to have fresher looking skin. This is because it's being fed properly from the inside . The new cells that form are able to form faster and stronger because they are nourished . Eyes are brighter because they aren’t dehydrated ,hair is stronger and shinier because the follicle is able to feed the virgin hair that is growing from it. Less skin care and hair care product is needed, because the skin and hair are not starving for nutrients, they have their own. Less makeup is needed too,and looks fresh because the skin is hydrated and doesn’t need to absorb it. Even grey hair usually looks stunning on these people as well.

I have experienced this myself., If I get overly busy, and forget to eat, or eat on the run, and forget to drink enough water, I will notice these same conditions in my own hair and skin. Then I will start noticing that I am using more moisturizer. My Hair feels dry and harder to curl too, and that’s when the light bulb goes on, and I start paying attention to my diet, and drink lots of water, and within days, I am using less moisturizer and I have that shine back in my hair. It's so easy to get busy and not take the time to nourish yourself, even in my Profession. Having the knowledge that I do ,I am able to catch it while it's still very easy to fix. It only takes a few days to see the negative effects begin to show, and a day or 2 to reverse it, assuming you already have a good base to start with. If you allow yourself to become under nourished and dehydrated for a prolonged period of time, chances are you are totally unaware of it, and it can take months to see a difference once you get started in the right direction.

So, to sum up, start paying attention to what you put in your mouth at each meal, and drink plenty of water. You should be consuming 3 nutritious meals a day, and drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water each day. That will nourish the hair and skin internally. No, fast food is not a nutritious meal, even if they don't use any trans fat! Then, throw away all those skin and hair care products that are full of chemicals and artificial ingredients. Read the labels. If you see sodium lauryl sulfate and other chemical products, you are doing more harm than benefit. Start using all natural skin care and hair care products, whether it is my Chalet product line, or some other line. The combination of diet and natural beauty products will have a profound positive effect on how you look as well as how you feel.
