Tips For Taking Care of Your Hair Prior To Your Wedding Day |
Your wedding day is a month away. You at least have an idea of how you want your hair styled when you walk down the aisle. But as of now, this very minute, your hair is frizzy, dry, and may even feel like straw. Whether you are going to have an up-do or go for the flowing down-do you want your hair to be at its best. You want it to shine but not feel greasy. You want it to feel soft but not be flat. Try in advance to start preparing your hair for the styling it will endure on your wedding day. Here are some healthy hair techniques to start trying now:
Know Your Shampoo - Using a shampoo that contains a high percentage of sodium laureth sulfate which is what makes shampoo later may actually pull moisture out of your hair. Keep in mind that the shampoo bottle will not actually list how much of the lathering agent is present so look for a shampoo that doesn’t contain sodium laureth sulfate at all or is advertised as a gentle cleanser.
Condition With Care - Sure using conditioner can be a great tool for your hair to calm down all the little frizzies and lock in moisture to your dry locks. But instant conditioners treat only the outer layer of hair which will temporarily smooth your hair. Try using a deep conditioner. These are the ones that you leave in your hair for up to an hour. Some with long hair may want to deep condition about once a week. Deep conditioning is different from instant conditioners because it actually penetrates the hair strand therefore helping your hair to hold up to its environment, styling, etc.
Style With Caution - You know that when you style your hair with a blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron that you could actually fry your hair. This is not something you want to do just days before your wedding! So when styling your hair use some type of protective styling product first. Surprisingly, it will not weigh down your hair but will act as a barrier between your hair and the heat.
Treat Lightly - Repeatedly coloring all of your hair when only the roots need coloring will damage your hair. Try not to color more often than every four weeks.
Trim Time - Trim your hair regularly. While your busy schedule may consist of wedding preparations make time to have your hair trimmed. The longer you go without having your hair trimmed will cause more damage to your hair because your split ends will continue to travel up your hair strand. Try to trim your hair every four to six weeks and this will help keep your hair in good shape.
When preparing for your wedding day it’s important to also prepare your hair. You want your hair to look its best on your big day so start treating your hair as though it’s as important as your wedding dress to ensure that you portray glamour and style when you say "I do."
