Bobby pins seem like they have been around forever, but even in today’s age of hair care they have not lost their importance. On many occasion they have been the lifesaver of that unruly hairdo that just will not stay put.
Going back a few years the bobby pin played a major roll in achieving those “kiss curls” that was such an important part of the hairstyles way back when. In fact, some women would curl their entire hair with these little gems. A strand of hair would be taken, twisted into a circle and held in place with a bobby pin until the hair dried.
Then when it came time to hold parts of a hair style in place this pin would easily do the job. Many of the up do hairstyles would just not be possible without them. If they are place properly, they go almost unnoticed.
They play a very important part in the bridal hairdo. Not only for holding the style in place which is often more complex than the average hairstyles, but for also holding the hair décor in place.
As we mentioned if they are placed in the hair correctly, they are almost unnoticeable. In addition to this they come in a variety of colors, which can be use according to
hair color and helps to camouflage as well. Good bobby pins come with a plastic coating so they are gentle to the hair. Any that have lost their coating should be discarded.
Many times if the hair is being done up in a French roll or a bun it takes many pins to hold it in place. When they are properly coated and in good condition, there is no discomfort on using them. Sometimes if they are pushed into the hair too deeply or it is twisted too tightly they can be uncomfortable.
Often you will see various pieces of hair décor just have a bobby pin backing to hold them in place. If you are creative, you can decorate your own bobby pins. There is no limit as to what you can put on them to dress them up. Just glue some flowers, or ribbons or even beads to them.
In the past there were valuable for holding hair rollers in place when hair curling. Most of the rollers today do not require these as they are self holding. In does not mean that they still cannot be used on rollers that will not hold because the hair is too short for example.
Even though the bobby pins are well coated and gentle, they have to be used properly. Use care when removing them that the hair is not twisted in them. Refrain from pulling out a bobby pin that has become tangled. Work it out gently otherwise; you are going to end up with
split ends.
