Over Processed Hair-Too Much Of A Good Thing

Over processed hair is most often blamed on perms. There are several other causes for this however, and it makes it even worse if you are combining these actions together such as improper hair care. If you are noticing that your hair just isn’t looking good and there seems to be something wrong then look for some of these signs. Dry spit ends, just wants to do its own thing so it now becomes unruly hair and tends to look on the wild side then you probably have over processed hair.

In addition to that, you may find that what used to be soft and shiny strands of hair has now become dull and coarse. Oh and you can add the frizzies to that too. You do not have to have all of the hair symptoms even one with no other possible cause is enough of an indicator.

You may feel that it is not important to identify the cause of what has created your hair damage. This is an unwise decision because although you can treat the problem hair successfully what is going to stop it from reoccurring and having to go through the whole hair treatment process again.

As we mentioned perms are a big cause of the problem of over processed hair but you can add to this list of problem causers, dyes, straighteners and curling irons. This may be a little frustrating for you thinking that you can never do any of these things with your hair, which doesn’t leave you may options for hair fashion. In fact, you can do any of these but in such a way there is no damage. It is often from misuse and overuse of these commodities that cause the damage and not the act itself.

To using any of the hair products or hair equipment safely and effectively, you just need to follow some before, during and after guidelines for each of these hair services/products during your hair care regime.

Before - if your hair is dry or unhealthy put off having your perm, or hair coloring until you get it a healthier condition. Alternatively, if absolutely necessary then ask your hair stylist about more of a gentle type of perm. The same applies to colors for dying or bleaching.  For these two items stay away from “do it yourself” products. These are meant to be professional and should be done by one.

During - Avoid do any type of hair care that requires heat, such as curling irons or straighteners. Use high quality hair care products. These products will help to protect from an ongoing hair damage that may be occurring.

After - Give you hair a rest. Be sure that it has recovered from the last beauty service you had done. Let your hair go without coloring or perming for a while and use the proper products. If you find that your hair is still showing signs of being over processed hair then consider getting an attractive haircut and just leaving it natural without any hair processing of any type. In other wards just give it some tender loving hair care and nurse it back to health.
