Can Female Hair Loss Be Reversed?

Alopecia, which is the technical term for hair loss, does not just refer to hair on the scalp, but indeed is in reference to any part of the body, which normally produces hair. It is not something that is restricted to one gender but is predominantly more prominent in men, most significantly male pattern baldness.

Women however are more common to thinning hair. In some cases, it goes unnoticed until it becomes significant. It’s not something that seems to happen overnight, but over a period of time. There are cases though where it has come on suddenly.

For the most part, we are used to seeing hair in our hairbrushes on a regular basis. Therefore, it’s not something that concerns us easily. When we start to get concerned is when we see the thinning becoming evident on the scalp itself. When I say we are used to seeing hair in the brush it means that we shed on an average each day about 100 hairs.

Hair growth is not something that is spontaneous either. The growth of one strand of hair spans over about a four-year life cycle. Growing about ½ inch per month on an average. The hair will take a rest for several months then naturally fall out. Just as it does though there is a new hair awaiting.

Women must realize that hair loss with them can also be genetic. One of the most common causes though is hormone imbalance. The hormones naturally fluctuate in the woman. Through puberty, menstrual cycle, pregnancy and menopause are all natural changes the body goes through and can affect loss of hair.

Stress is another common factor along with several other conditions as well. The question is though will it grow back in if the cause is identified.

Some of the steps that can be taken to prevent hair loss are first and foremost taking good care of it. Using the proper products, not abusing it, and not being rough with it are all steps that go a long way in helping to prevent the hair loss. If these are the culprits then once you correct it most often the lost hair will return.

If it’s due to a hormonal imbalance one the hormones are corrected to normal activity most often the hair loss will stop and the hair in most cases will begin to grow back in. Hair treatments with vitamins and herbs will go a long way in encouraging some new healthy hair growth.
