Depilatory-How Does The Hair Removal Process Work?

Most people remove hair from under their arms, over their forearms, legs and so on. It only looks clean and more presentable. To do this there are several depilatory techniques in use these days.

The meaning of depilatory actually is removal of hair. Most hair removal products and Creams have chemicals which are used for dissolving the protein that unwanted hair is made of. The method is meant for short term removal of hair. There are usually two ways in which depilatory techniques work. One is by using depilatory creams and lotions and second is shaving the hair off the skin. Depilatories use chemicals to remove hair only superficially. The methods work by removing the disulfide bonds between the proteins that make up the strength of the hair. This is how the hair becomes weak and is broken away from the skin. It is difficult to perform hair threading on all parts of the body to remove hair, as it turns out to be painful, that’s why hair removal products come in handy.

The process of hair removal is a technically-oriented process. But for a user it is as simple as weakening of the hair and then its removal.  Depilatories are also found in different forms such as gels, powders, aerosols or even roll-on.

Some of the hair removal products are also found in form of sprays which can be evenly distributed over the skin. It is extremely interesting to see the hair disintegrate and seeing the skin becoming clear. A spray is usually used in the shower. You can simply spray a mild coat and allow the mixture to take effect. Once the hair disintegrates, the hair can be wiped off with a small towel or a cotton cloth. After that you can take a shower and apply soap to clean the skin area where the spray has been used. Compared to other type of depilatory techniques, spraying saves a lot of time and effort on part of the user. Hair removal tends to become easier as you will not waste time in spreading it evenly as you would do in case of a hair removal cream.

The hair removal products which are available in form of sprays are safe and can be used once in a week. The advantage of depilatory is that it is quick and affordable. They are readily available in local medical stores and you can use it at flexible time at home. On the other hand, there are a few drawbacks of using a depilatory. The first one is that the chemicals can affect the skin in a negative way. If your skin is more sensitive then you may develop a rash. That’s why it is important to buy and use a small quantity of the gel or cream and check if you feel itchy or are otherwise sensitive to the product. If you do then you need to look for a milder product, preferably something that suits your skin. Depilatory hair removal solutions usually cost $4 to $30 depending on the concentration of the chemicals used and the quantity of the cream.
