Hair threading may be a new term to you and perhaps to North America in general but when it comes to the Eastern countries like Egypt and India its as commonplace as what waxing is to the other countries. One of the benefits of threading is apparently it removes the entire hair follicle which means the results are much longer lasting. Whereas waxing will go from anywhere to 2-4 weeks threading is said to last for 6 weeks and even longer sometimes.
To give a simple explanation of the technique one would say that a cotton thread is tied snugly around the hair then the thread is twisted and the hair comes out of the follicle. Let me tell you that it’s easier said than done unless you have received training in the procedure and had plenty of practice.
There are some great benefits to it and individuals who have been having this service performed for many years would not even contemplate the waxing methods of the western world.
To begin with, it would appear to be more sanitary in the procedure. The skin has no contact with anything except the thread itself. Whereas in
waxing there is the applicators that touch the skin. A fresh thread is used for each client and thrown away immediately after use.
When it comes to
hair threading the precision that can be achieved with most definitely is superior to waxing. This means a more detailed and uniformed look can be given to the brows. There is far less risk of too many hair or the wrong brows hairs being removed with the
hair removal method.
There is no need to worry about product damage or reaction. There is no need for any products. It’s just simply the thread that does the work. Whereas will waxing you have the prewaxing cleanser, the wax itself, then a soothing gel. All unnecessary with threading.
Many people that have heard about it but not experienced it feel it must be a very slow process and they don’t have the time or patience for. It because as a big surprise to them when they discover it’s much faster than almost any other method of hair removal.
It is certainly not a permanent hair removal procedure but over time, it could weaken the hair follicle to the point where a new hair will not form.
It does have its down side though. If the person performing the service is inexperienced, they may break the hair instead of removing them much like shaving does. This results in faster regrowth. Also for the procedure to work there has to be some hair growth there to apply the thread to so the client may have to allow more hair to grow than she may like.
Probably the last significant factor is there are not many technicians around that know how to perform the technique effectively although that is changing. Finally, from a pain point of view, it is no worse than tweezing but it is faster so the pain doesn’t seem to linger as long.
