Individuals who just manage to do an acceptable hairstyle shudder at the thought of doing their own hair extensions. They believe it is just beyond their scope of hair capabilities. Really, by having some patience following some how tos and using the proper products this is a goal that can be easily achieved. Not without some hard work and determination, mind you.

First thing you are going to have to do is determine which method you are going to do. There are many but you would be wise to choose between wefts or individual strands. The only way you are going to be able to make a good decision is by knowing a significant amount about both methods.

To begin with when we say individual strands that doesn’t mean one hair at a time. It is referring to small groups of hair consisting of about 20-50 strands of the hair going to be used for the extensions. These are going to be intermingled with small sections of your own hair. This will consist of one of many methods that you can choose. You can weave, glue, heat fuse or metal rod clamp them if you so choose too. In addition, there are a few other methods as well using waxes and polymers.

With the majority of the methods, you have to be acceptable to applying a chemical substance to your own hair. This is referred to in the attachment methods we just mentioned. These methods will last at best a few months, and the problem lies in trying to remove them.

The other method we mentioned what wefts. The difference here is basically only that you are going to sew groups of hair together. With this method, you can mix various colors into them that match your natural hair color. This gives a much more natural look.

With the wefts, they can be either hand sewn or machine sewn. When you compare the difference though you are most likely going to prefer the hand-sewn ones as opposed to the machine ones.

No matter which method you use, you are going to need to follow reliable step-by-step instructions if you are doing it yourself. It is important that you are as gentle as possible with your own hair not only when doing them but when removing them as well.

There is no doubt that extensions serve a great purpose and look absolutely beautiful. In addition to this, they give you the versatility to choose many different hairstyles.
