Hair Styling Tools

When you hear the term curling iron, have you ever wondered why it’s called that? It’s called that because that is what they used to do in the fifteen hundreds to style their hair – they actually used hot irons to apply to their hair to give it some body, and shape. Trouble was you could only do that if you were very well off, and the process took a long time, also doing a lot of damage to the hair in the whole process.

Now, of course, it is a very different story, and even when you blow-dry, your hair or you use a curling iron, you don’t have to be rich to have one, and you can do so much more with them. The heat problem still used to apply right up to just a few years ago and women who used hot curling irons on their hair would have a problem of the hair drying out, and that meant that they had to use expensive hair conditioners to keep their hair in a natural state.

If you’ve ever watched some of the old TV shows or movies, it was often used for comedic relief to have a woman show up with her hair still in curlers, it lent an air of tackiness and drabness to the situation to see a woman who was constantly in her curlers, as if waiting for the big moment when she would actually take them off to go out, but knowing that that moment would never come.

I have written many articles on hairstyles and what to watch out for, but this is the first time I have ever written one about the actual hair styling tools. Just think of it – there are so many different kinds of hair styling tools out there, but when you really look at it, there may be different kinds of tools, but the basic tools themselves have pretty much stayed the same. There are combs of all descriptions, curling irons, blow dryers, bobby pins, (although not as popular now), curlers for perms of all different descriptions, and, of course brushes of all different shapes and sizes.

I heard someone say that the vanity business is a multi billion dollar business, and that vanity is one of the sole driving forces of the economy, but how could you call it vanity when someone just wants to look good – and why shouldn’t they use all of the different hairstyling tools that are available today to help yourself get there when the result are infinitely pleasing to those who can admire style when it’s properly done.

Of course, with all the combs, curlers, curling irons, blow dryers and brushes that are out there, it doesn’t seem to matter about the tools so much as what you do with them.
